For your year truck, they came with the 8.8 with the 4.2 and 4.6 motor.
The 5.4 came with a 9.75 and the F-250s and up came with a 10.25 rear.
Why do you need a bigger rear?

i have herd that the 8.8 r weak i would like a 9" out of a mustang or something i would like better gas milage so by getting 9" i can change the gear ratio and get better gas milage. my truck is 2 wheel drive and i am very mechanically inclined so i can do all the work myself.

You have a 4.2 V6 with an 8.8
There is no way you could ever hurt that rear. Unless you put about 400 more HP in it.lol
Why not just change the gears in your current rear?

I know a guy that put a Lightning motor in his F-150 with an 8.8 rear in it and was running 12 second 1/4 miles with NO problem from the rear.
