1993f-150 e40d

Hey, I own a 1993 f-150 with the 5.8, the transmission went on me the other day and I found a replacement e40d, that had a shift kit & upgrades. Bolted it back up but the computer plug Ins were slightly different ( I don't know what year of e40d this is I guess, seller lied). So we switched the one plug by the shift lever with the plug from the old transmission, and the other plug we couldn't switch, but we could slide the connector on, it doesn't lock in, I have no codes or lights showing up, reverse lights work, I have park reverse neutral and second, no first no third. Any ideas on if this transmission is compatible or not? Or how to make it work? As it's my daily driver and I kind of need it asap, thanks in advance

What year did he say it was supposed to be out of? And why was he selling it? It's possible he sold you a crapped out trans that he screwed up.

He said it was a 93, he was selling it because he was getting rid of the truck I guess. But it's not giving any lights, oil in it was clean

The connector for the solenoid pack and MLPS changed around 1995. You can change the solenoid pack connector on the truck or open up the pan and swap in your old solenoid pack. The 1995 and later solenoid packs no longer have the solenoid protection diodes built into them like the 1994 and prior versions. They were moved to the PCM. Now you have nothing protecting the driver circuits in the PCM.

Some have reported no issues, others have said they did. If it were mine I would swap in my old solenoid pack to make sure the back EMF off the solenoids do not destroy the drivers inside the PCM.
