1975 C6 Tranny pan gasket leaking

See link for more info.
I started this new thread with new title and question.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...c6-tranny.html

I replaced a C6 pan gasket earlier this year and it's still leaking
I used a torque wrench on pan bolts so I would not over tighten.
any suggestions? Better type of gasket or maybe I'll have to buy a new pan?

The OEM cork gasket is the best. Make sure the flange on the pan is dead flat. Tighten the bolts to 90/100 inch lbs. Is it possible the leak could be the o-ring on the dipstick tube? A leak from the dipstick tube will run down to the pan edge and then around to the rear of the pan. I've seen many pan gaskets replaced when the dipstick tube is the cause of the leak.

Could be the shifter seal too depending on where his trans is leaking.

This area is very hard to see.
I found it with a mirror

I'll recheck the dip tube. Pretty sure that wasn't leaking before I changed the pan gasket.
The bottom of the truck was a mess when I got it. The steerring box was spewing fluid all over the place for some time.
I already replaced that though. I try to keep it clean so I can see what's leaking.
I recently took some new pictures but haven't uploaded them yet

Okay, I'm back at it.
I bought a new cork and rubber gasket at Napa with a new tran filter.
I already removed the pan and the bolt holes are slightly deformed.
I was told I could flatten them out with a ball peen hammer and something hard and flat to back it up, but I'd like to get a new pan if possible. Any suggestions where I can get one online.

I hate leaking vehicles that leave messy puddles in my driveway

Scroll down all the way here and find heavier steel, expensive cast, or shiney chrome:

Cast Aluminum Transmission Pans !

Or google "ford c6 transmission pan" and find dozens of hits, $20.99 from Amazon included.

You can just forget the gasket altogether if you want to, just clean both surfaces and use some silicone, not alot just a nice bead about 1/4 thick all the way around. I use silicone that I buy at Home Depot for windows and doors, I know it sounds crazy but it works and I have hundreds of transmission that I have built sealed with just silicone, a lot of transmissions come from the factory assembled with just silicone. If it still leaks it might not be coming from the pan.

Thanks I'm actually search the web now. One on ebay starting bid $13
I'm going to presume all C6 pans are the same (footprint) regardless of the year. I see that you can get deep pans to.

Bought a pan on Amazon for $20. Just put it on about an hour ago.
Need to get some fluid and some replacement nuts for the crossmember bolts. Tommorrow. Thanks again

I must have been in a hurry. I missed your link but I saw the ref. to a pan on amazon for $20.
I just scrolled down your link and saw the heavy gauage pan for $29.
I would have bought that one. Damn it.
A deeper pan would be nice but my exhaust pipe and a crossmember are in the way.

I'M BACK and NOW the tranny is leaking from inside the bell housing so I'm gonna presume it's a front seal on the tranny.
I'm Going to probably have to remove it to fix it..
Anyone in the San Diego area have any recomendations for a tranny shop? I can pull it out, but then again do I really want to.
It's and old RV but it is unique and almost every thing works.
was thinking about selling it but there's not much of a market for a gas sucking beast like this one.

The oring around the pump and gasket behind the pump are more likely to cause a leak in the bell housing. Over the years I had a lot of C6's apart and not too many were actually leaking from the pump to converter seal. You will have it out anyway so change the seal, oring, and gasket to be safe. Drain the torque converter before you pull it out of the pump then pull it carefully and look the whole area over thouroghly.
