stock radio aux adapter

stock radio aux adapter
On my 05 superduty, I have an aux function on the radio but no cd changer or anything that goes to it. I pulled the radio and there is a large plug on the back that I'm assuming that an aux would plug into. Is there an adapter that I could use to be able to plug in my ipod in?

I had one, it quit working after about a year. I haven't missed it enough, otherwise I would have put in the aftermarket head unit I have. It works, but don't expect Bose quality sound, because the box is just RCA inputs and a cheap gain adjuster, you have to provide a RCA-to-1/8"(3.5mm) balanced patch cable to put into the headphone jack of the iPod. The PIE cannot control the iPod, it's just like a direct box in that it converts the input RCAs to an output that matches the 10 (IIRC?) pin jack on the stock head. For $90 you can probably almost buy an aftermarket unit that looks and sounds better, so it's a toss up either way. To install, I dropped the glove box and stuck my hand up behind the factory radio and stuck the plug in. If you have big hands, maybe a wife or kid can stick their hand up there, but there's enough room to not need to pull the dash.
As easy as it is to pull the door panels on these trucks, a set of cheaper poly coned speakers and an aftermarket head to do wonders to improve the sound over the stock setup, plus most quality heads don't only have an Aux input where you pop in a 3.5mm patch cable, some have the ability to control the iPod via an interface cable, so you can just toss the player into the console and use the head to run everything. Works great if you have an older iPod hanging around that you can just leave in the glove box plugged in all the time.
EDIT: There used to be an fm modulator type deal that you could patch into the antenna cable, I've seen it used for older aftermarket CD changers where you would just set the radio to a certain FM setting to listen to the changer. I haven't seen one around in a long time, but it's an option if you can find one. Again, not awesome sound quality, but it's an idea.
