yep i did my 88 years ago and you deff need to pull the steering wheel but i think i had to punch a hole in some cast metal to get to the pin

 

OK so this brings up another question - are all the 92-96 columns tilt and Ford just doesn't give you the lever to adjust it on the non-tilt trucks? The reason I ask is a lady here at work bought a 96 F150 for her son and the lock cylinder broke. She took a pic of the underside of the column, with the shroud removed, so I could show her where the pin to release the lock cylinder is, and I can see a tilt pawl underneath there. She swears it's a plain-jane truck and does not have tilt.

 

Yeah, Ford used the same column without the lever, and with a single-slot tilt pawl for non-tilt applications. The same column is used in lots of Ford vehicles, not just the trucks...
