I have quite a few miles on my '96 F150 and am thinking about doing an overhaul. I am just wondering if anybody out there knows what I can and cannot do to my engine without messing up all the electronic controls and such. Like cyl. head machining/porting/polishing? Boring out (prob .030). Longer stroke crank? Cams? I appreciate your input.
for the most part, yes, you can. you can change heads and cams basically to your delight, only thing you might not be able to do is stroke that thing, or pur really radical stuff in. keep it mild and youll be fine.
You can do alot. I have a 90 with speed density and put world product windsor jr. heads and comp 31-255-5 cam with no problems. As long as you do not go to radical on the cam or change the displacement by stroking you should be alright.
