Fog Light metal cover
The little metal square light diffuser in my fog lights have both broken. Started with one side now the other side has done it. I recently installed HID headlights and have the ones for fog lights but worry about that metal piece smaking the bulb and breaking it. Can i get those metal covers out?? Or do I need to buy new fog lights?
Thanks

You may be able to get them out by somehow breaking them up from inside the housing and pulling the pieces out through the bulb hole. I believe they put them in there to reduce glare, but the 05 and up fog lights don't have them, so I don't think they're necessary.
As for the HID bulbs in the stock housings, you do realize that's illegal right? Not to mention unsafe for other drivers...

Oh, and as a side note, I ended up repairing my damaged stock fogs and mounted them below the rear bumper as aux back-up lights.

ok awesome thats what I wanted to hear. I really like what you did with your stock lights looks really good.
Did you have to trim the brackets at all??
The smoked come with that wiring kit did you use it or just tap into your reverse lights?
They would come in handy for me since my taillights are smoked which killed my back up lights.

I removed the plastic brackets completely. Tried to tuck 'em up as high as possible to keep them safe. I ran a power wire from the battery and trip the lights through a relay with the factory reverse light as the coil trigger. Stock SD reverse lights are lame to begin with, they only get worse with tinted tails and/or tinted windows.
(I ran an additional relay and switch in the cab that allows me to turn the aux reverse's on at any time - ideal for hooking trailers at night.)
