well, i missed this thread. my money is on a dying vacuum pump.
you need minimum 15 inches constant vacuum for the brakes to work properly. what happens when the pump dies is that over time, it makes enough vacuum for one brake application. but if you need to stop before it can build up again, you get that stepping on a brick feeling.
borrow a vacuum gauge and put it on the line. i bet you will only see 10-12 inches

once you put the new pump on, you will see 19-22 inches.

hho generators are nothing more than snake oil that puts money into the pocket of the person selling the kit.
it takes more energy to make than it produces.

My problem is solved!!!

OK everyone....I was having problems with my brakes and I got some terrific input from the FTE people... I installed a new vacuum pump and all is well , at least as far as my truck goes anyhow. Know, that if you attempt to do your own R&R you will need a pulley remover and a way to press the pulley onto the new pump !!! Way simple to do, remove the serpentine belt, 3 bolts and a vacuum hose, and it's off. Thanx again to everyone, you guys have made life a little less stressful.
Now can someone give me the winning lottery numbers...PLEASE.

HELL-YEAH!!! I worked on our F-250 this morning and about half way through it it started to rain (cool)... Me & mama are sub-contractors and we are here in Jackson MS and we're painting a bunch ('bout 1000) dumpsters. We travel a lot for our work, so we really need our truck in a big way, we are s-o-l without it. This truck is a work horse to be sure. Most of last week we had no power brakes at all. What a pain. But thanx to ya'll we're back in the saddle.
