Last month I took my truck in for going into limp mode. The code showed some type of coolant issue. $680 later they replaced both radiator hoses. It sounds like the hoses have been covered under sometype of recall. OH MY radiator was replaced two years ago. 25k I only have 40k on it now. and they can not find out why it goes into limp mode. The code is coolant related. Here is another good one. They can not find or pull up any of my past repairs on the truck. It has been in their shop 6 times. But they have no record of it beyond one month.

What was the code?

 

I do not have the invoices. I left that up the their million dollar computer system. They did not tell me a specific code number, just that the code had to do with coolant leak. But on my truck I have a full undercarriage military skid plate to protect all those wires and hoses. As well as dirt and mud that would show any leaks. Nothing Along with the truck going into limp mode the transmission shut down also. Stalled out on the side of the road. I was able to keep playing with the transfer case in four WD and made the truck move. It kept going out of gear, I kept putting it back. Finally after 60 miles at 20mph everything reset itself and I took it to the dealer. They say that the coolant code shut down the transmission. I do hate this truck. Our last 3 trips with our camper it shut us down in NOWHEREVILLE.

 

I am still in the hunt for a bad radiator hose if any of you still have one left over from replacing w a new one. I have about 25k left on the 100k warranty, so i have a little time left, but not too much.

Senix: I found the invoice for the hose replacements. Code p1000 when it came in. Ticket states upper and lower rad hoses Found p00b7. Charged me $492.12, What do the codes mean? The difference between the $680 I first quoted and the total of $492.12 is that they tried to charge me the difference for having to remove a skid plate. But they did not really remove it. So I had to pay less.

This code generally is set with bad thermostats.

 

Thank you sir. The next thing they did was replace the thermostat. So maybe the hoses were not leaking after all???

 

Thermostats was the fault. Sounds like that would have been a warranty repair if still under warranty.

 

It was covered. They even put on paperwork that it had code P0b7, thermostat bad. I have the packet coming from BBB Auto line now. Next the Attorney General consumer protection division.

 

There is a newer TSB than the one listed at the beginning of this thread. It is TSB 11-12-4. The code 8590 is still the same to get warranty coverage on leaking O-rings, including radiator replacement, out to 5 yrs./50,000mi.

I just had mine done for the tune of $460...disgusting.

I'm hoping this was in place and I can get my money back.

 

Hello, I own a 2010 250 SD, crew diesel 8' bed. I had a small leak in the lower radiator hose...O-ring. Truck is in near perfect condition with 37,000 99% highway miles.
Vin# 1FTSW2BR8AEB29381. I had it repaired at a Ford dealer nearby at the cost of $510.00. Did all I thought I could trying to get it warrantied. Can you tell me if it is something I should fight Ford about to get it covered. Thanks...your help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I would think that for $500 you'd get more than an o-ring replaced.

 

Depends on when your truck was built, it could be past the 5 years.
