High Miler 7.3 low power, no codes

Hey All,

My F250 7.3 powerstroke is running a bit sluggish compared to my 7.3 excursion both in stock mode.

Low end power is weak and I'd like to get it remedied. Is there anyway I can diagnose this without an AE? Or do I absolutely need an AE to figure it out? If I do, is there anyone out in the SF Bay Area who can run I diagnosis for me? I'd gladly pay a fee if needed. I just don't want to go to a shop.

It's got 296k miles and cold starts are a bit long before it fires.

I had it chipped and it runs very strong in the performance and daily tunes with a wildman chip. As stated above, power doesn't build right away, but once it gets past 1900-2000 rpm the power builds normally.

Here's what i've done to it when I bought it.

Re-did up-pipe gaskets (restored quite a bit of power)
Installed known good turbo with wicked wheel
4" down pipe
4" exhaust exiting before rear wheel
reinforced intake plenum mod
6637 intake

I've got boost gauges and exhaust gauges and in stock i've seen the boost gauge up as high as 16psi. In a daily tune i've seen it as high as 25psi.

The exhaust temp i've never seen above 1000 degrees. But i've never really pushed it for long periods.

What do you think it could be with this many miles? Worn Injectors? Worn HPOP? Tired engine? I'd be hard pressed to believe the engine pistons/valves are worn?!

Thanks in advance guys.

Erik

Start with the simplest possibility: boost leak.

How long ago did you redo your up pipe gaskets? New donuts? Check them if your over 10,000 miles from replacement. How's the intercooler boots look? Oily? Have you tried tightening all the ic boots? Like stated before, start with the simplest and go from there.

At your milage I would replace the LPOP, it's a quick cheap (under a hundred bucks) and should help with those long starts, and usually gives back a little power by suppling the HPOP with enough oil for full injection pressure, and it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with a friend and a half- racker.
