My f150 tinkering progress

Jumped the low pressure switch on ac to kick on compressor, charged it and now have cold AC!! Sweet!4 new tires today. Drives great. Hauled 1300lbs in bed to scrapyard and it did fine.Made a new oil filler gasket out of cork and changed the oil and filter. This truck is built to actually work on,Wanna do my valve cover gaskets this weekend. Tried finding some door locks with keys at junkyard but no luck...Did i mention unexpected AC:-). Noticed after extended runtime the is a slight tap when acclerating from stop, quickly quits at cruising throttle.

I don't understand "unexpected AC".

I guess he didn't expect the fix to work.

Never doubt yourself; Bask in your awesomeness.

Slight tap after it's warm could be an exhaust leak. When the manifolds warm up they expand, possibly in such a way as to expand a small gap or crack.
If it only happens at the point you described, it might also be a sticky lifter (depending on which variety of tap you are hearing.) In fact, I think the lifter is most likely. They depend on oil volume for proper functionality. You may have sludge, or something else blocking up your oil passages causing starved lifters. That can cause a tap at certain rpm.

I used the f150 today to pick an old garden tractor. 280 mile round trip. Hit the road at 0400. US highways,55mph,scattered small towns. Not the first tick until I pulled away from stop sign almost backto my house. Temp stayed around "OR" of normal the whole time, oil pressure around "RM" of normal. I ran the tank down low and she only took 11gal to fill. And i lost a hub cap some where on US 52. Got my locks, intake, valve cover gaskets, and carb rebuild kit ordered. Here she is on break.

Sounds like you have things working well. But, did you mean it only took 11 gallons to go 280 miles? That's 25 MPG!

No way 25mpg. Just a fillup seems like it would have been more

Oh, so you filled up during the trip, not at the end.
