Exclamation Threaded Dipstick Tube

My 86 150 4x4 (302) needs a new tube, its threaded type. The oild pan is rear sumped. Found a new one for a 351W. Will it work in my 302?

Should be close enough if not the same. Do an oil change and mark the stick at the top level after you put the oil in if it reads different.

What's even better is fill it with oil after a oil/filter change, but do not put the last quart in it. Run it and let it warm up and then let it sit for a hour or two for the oil to settle, and the pull the dipstick and make a mark with a hacksaw blade. That will be the "add one quart" mark. Then add the last quart, do the same routine, and then make another mark, that will be the "full" mark.
