Question Mass air meter calibration needed?

I am soon to do a mass air conversion on my 92 f150 5.0 manual tranny 4x4. I have an A9P computer and am going to build my own harness. I am leary of buying used mass air meters since you dont know what they have been through or how the are calibrated. So what are my options for a mass air meter? Can I just go buy a remaned from orielly's and run with it or will I have to get it calibrated as well?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The computer holds the MAF transfer function... the meter itself isn't calibrated. Because of this you need to use the meter the computer is programmed for or have the transfer function for whatever meter you get programmed into the computer. The second option has a catch though, the computer itself isn't programmable so you need to add a module to the J3 port that is programmable, and these are available as a pre burned "chip" or a DIY tuner interface like the Moates Quarterhorse.

Thanks Conanski, I was glad to see it was you and I have read alot of you posts. By saying the one the ecu is programmed for do you mean the exact one or just go find a stock one from the parts store. I am fairly sure its the exact one but I am a freak about the details. I will probably go with Pro M or BBK now.

Thanks

In this case that means the 55mm Ford meter from or for an '89-93 Mustang, it's not specific to a single meter just that size and application.
