new truck to me now i have ?'s
So i got a 94 cc 350 today and have a few questions. First off i have always had IDI motors, this my first DI. I know that the factory guages are not very good, the motor seems to run perfect but the oil pressure is right on the line of normal and low. Second the EGT's seem hot to me. crusing down the high way at 65 flat ground and no wind i would hang out between 750-800 and if you got into the pedal it would 1000 in about 2 seconds. Had about a 60 mile drive to get it home and when i did it was leaking coolant pretty good. Constant drip of the front of the motor i am assuming water pump but was wondering if there is anything else up there that could cause the leak. Also it has some lame barbed wire stickers around the cab what works good to get those off.

The best part about the deal is it came with a free parts truck. the best part about the parts truck is that it is an IDI. 91 f-250. no front axle, it had a d60 swap and he took that axle out, however it still has the 6 in lift under it, motor has new heads, new ip and new injectors, 20,000 on the zf5 and clutch and 40,000 on a banks sidewinder turbo.

Ok, totally off topic, but what axle is that in the front? Doesn't look to me like it has 8 lug rims on it! I've never seen that style rims on an F-250 or 350. Maybe it's just late...
IN regard to your questions, the oil "gauge" isn't really a gauge. It's pretty much a dummy light with a needle. It just ticks up into the operating range (somewhere) when the oil pressure sending unit (pressure switch) senses a minimum pressure. Don't worry too much about the oil pressure. With the HEUI injection system in our PSD trucks, if the low pressure oil pump gets weak, the motor will shut off because the High pressure oil system runs out of oil to drive the injectors.
I don't have gauges (yet) but those EGT's seem about right to me. Just keep it below 1250* and you should be fine. It's ok to go up above there briefly (as in a few seconds) but I wouldn't keep it there very long.
For coolant leaks, I would look at the following: Water pump, top water hose neck (known to leak) and the oil cooler (down by the oil filter).
For the barbed wire stickers, use a heat gun or hair dryer and a plastic scraper. Get the sticker good and hot and the adhesive softens enough to scrape (or peel if you're luck) off. then use Goo Gone or something similar to remove the adhesive.
The truck looks good. It has a nice tough stance and looks like it's ready to go to work.
