headlight issue?

now that i got the bronco back running i can start on the minor stuff again....the high beam side of my headlights are not working (either side) i noticed it soon after getting the (91)bronco. i did changed the dimmer switch in the floor and both headlight bulbs but they still don't work. is there a headlight relay somewhere? or something else i need to check? thanks in advance

91 still had a foot-switch? Really! I thought Ford had gone to the multi-function stalk on the column by then. Fun fact. Good to know.

I'm pretty sure the 92-96 model years were the first to use the column mount dimmer.

Remember your wires are now 20 years old. wire could have easily worn through. pay extra attention to where the wires pass through metal and/or grommets. I don't have an 87-91 fuse panel diagram, did they use the same fuse as the low beams, or did they have the separate fuse for high beams?

There is no fuse. The circuit protection is an auto-resetting circuit-breaker that is integral to the main light switch. And THAT didn't change nearly 30 years of Bronco production. The reason is so that if the circuit does trip, and the short clears itself or the circuit cools down, the headlights will come back on. Otherwise a blown headlight circuit leaves you alone and no way to travel in the dark, no way to get the lighting circuit(s) restored, and without an onboard supply of replacement fuses the vehicle is rendered immobile until daylight returns. It is for this frightening reason that this safety feature has been standard on all cars for decades.
