1968 F100 Shift Linkage

Hi,
My '68 is a two wheel drive truck with the 300 straight six. You are correct about the shift linkage needed. It's the two rods that connect at the lower steering column to the standard transmission. I'm trying to do an authentic restore and would like to replace the floor shifter with the column shifter.
Thanks for the reply,
Bryan

You need to be more specific when asking a question like this.
What is wrong with the linkage? Is it located on the steering column or transmission?
Is the shift lever binding up between gears? If so, this is an EZ fix, takes about 10 minutes.
If the shift collar has broken, parts are readily available.

Hi thanks for the reply, I will try to get additional info from the shop, just was told that the linkage is worn out. The transmission is ok so the shop suggested new linkage and to place the shifter on the floor since column shifter replacement parts are not available. I was quoted $650 for the work and parts by Crescent Transmissions in Hawaiian Gardens. Does this sound reasonable?

In each lever is a rubber bushing, nylon insulator. The bushings age crack/begin to disintegrate, the shift lever binds up.

At the bottom of the steering column, under the hood are the two manual control selector levers that the shaft rods from the trans attach to.
In each lever is a rubber bushing, nylon insulator. The bushings age crack/begin to disintegrate, the shift lever binds up.

Will they have the ones for the points on the shift levers on the tranny itself? I already replaced the upper ones at the bottom of the column.
Thanks

There are no bushing on the trans levers, according to the parts catalog pic. It's possible that the holes in the levers the rods fit into have become elongated, which could cause the shift lever to bind up.
