Well made the run home today with the new hose and flash. All seemed fine.
Hit some extremes today coming up I77 to I81N.

228F water, 225 trans and 1414 EGT's but she pulled like a champ.

I am not a fan of the flash but it seems to perform just fine.

Great report, Scott!

This seems to contradict itself. Why don't you like it if things are running just fine?

You'd rather blow up your engine than have some advance warning?

There was nothing on the ground. I initially saw the splatter where the vertical and horizontal connect. That hose there.

Coolant splatter in Engine Compartment

I know this is an older thread, but having a hard time finding the source of this leak I've got and this is the first reference I've seen talking about (spatter all around the engine compartment)...so at least one person has come across this before. This is on a 2008 F250 6.4 job1 (mfg 02/07) with about 79k miles right now.

My coolant level is going down slowly from the upper cold line down to the lower line on the degas reservoir about every 600 miles or so. There is nothing on the ground beneath the truck, no wet areas on the undercarriage or on the radiator...just the splatter all around the engine compartment - especially toward the front like the antifreeze is being splattered all around by the fan or something.

I don't know a heck of a lot about this truck, and for some reason the dealer didn't have anything in the Oasis report at all (maybe a topic for another discussion) but according to the CarFax report this truck had the original radiator repaired at a Ford dealer (15k miles) and then replaced at about 200 miles later at the same place here in TX. I think it has the Venturi (sp?) T update already (top outlet/port of degas bottle is capped off) and doesn't appear to be the cap causing the problem. What are the obvious places to check for leaks and how can I tell for sure with the fan splattering this stuff all over the place?

This is the lower drivers side radiator hose...but this looks/feels like used oil, not the clear "splatter" on the top side of the engine compartment (especially on/around the fan shroud) of which I'm trying to find the source.

I guess I'm trying to figure out why the blackish oil seeping from the radiator hose...or is this just coolant that has seeped out and become dirty from all the road dust?

That is your intercooler hose. Pretty normal to have some oil in the system but I'm not sure if yours is more than normal or not.

What hose is this?

I think I finally found my slow coolant leak when I was under the right side of the truck looking up through the bottom of the engine compartment, but not sure which hose this is. Looks like it's running back up to the front toward the radiator...

I work on all my own cars but not sure what to expect here. Is this something I should attempt in my driveway or is it going to be a massive mess if I try to do this myself? Thanks, -Aaron

Drain the radiator so you don't take a coolant bath.

The hoses are quick disconnects. Easy job.

I have the same issue. Just started to notice a damp spot on the hose and then the mesh around the hose was wet a couple days later. Now seeing some dripping. I don't think the hose has ever been replaced on my truck. Is this the hose that was redesigned to have 2 o-rings?
Thinking about doing the EGR delete and new thermostats while replacing this since I will have the coolant drained. Thoughts or suggestions on EGR delete kit? I am running the H&S that can shut off the EGR.

Where is the hose located at? A picture would help.
