Roof Rack Crossbar Removal

Have searched the forum and can't find an answer (or I am just lame) for removing the crossbars on a 2010 Expedition Limited. Would like to remove them for washing and waxing the roof and may not put them back on. Thanks for suggestions.

If I remember correctly you need to pop off the rear caps so that you can slide them out and up.

If you your not going to put them back on are you will to sell? Pm me.

Thanks!

I just verified it on my 07.
Lift up on the back side of the rail cover because there is a tab that slides under the metal rail.

There is one of those plastic pressure fittings holding it in place.

hjsimpson, it worked like charm. Took a little effort after removing the rear covers, but they slid right out. Took a couple of pictures, but do not see a way to post here. If anyone wants a picture send me a PM. I did create an album called Roof rack Crossbar Removal for showing the pictures if anyone wants to see them.

Removed mine too and will not put them back on. If I may sell, what would you offer? (postage not included)

Well im not really sure. I actually only need one, somehow one was damaged possible from a car wash. I was hoping to get a decent deal from someone local.

I was happy my XLT came without them. Only useful for adding air drag on my vehicle, I never carry anything on the roof. They're still on my Explorer, just never bothered to pull them.
