No start, code 1283
I have always been able to search and find a solution to the problems I had in the past, but now I'm stumped. I have a 95 and 97 psd and love both of them. My 95 is a f350 with automatic trans. It's my service truck which was an ambulance. It has 160K miles on truck and about 60K on the motor. The other day I came in from a 600 mile round trip, running fine, shut it off. A couple days later, no start. First I had two codes, gpr circuit and the 1283. Noticed the glow plug rely burned on the hot post. Replaced and the code is gone. But still no start and 1283 ipr circuit failure. Have 35lbs off fuel pressure at the schraeder valve. A few months ago I replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the screen, changed oil and replace the fuel pump because I was having some slow starting problems. Last winter replaced the glow plugs. Checked the fuses and the wiring can't find a problem there. Unplugged the icp, still on start. The hpop, was down, but had been cranking on it for awhile. Filled it up, no start. Please anyone with an idea what might be wrong.

That is an IPR code . Look at the wiring to it .May have a bad coil. Might want to check fuse 22 while you are at it ...
From the manual :
X1 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1283: CHECK POWER FEED
DTC P1283 indicates an IPR circuit failure was detected by the PCM.
Key off.
Remove IPR harness connector.
Remove PCM relay.
Measure resistance between IPR connector Pin A and PCM relay terminal 361 (R).
Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
Measure resistance of IPR coil.
Is resistance 5 to 20 ohms?

I have done rebuilders for years, mostly explorers and ford trucks. I have used these forms for years to figure out problems. I have found it more informative than the manuals and a lot faster. I will check the coil and wiring in the am. My batteries are new and the starter spins it great. Thanks for all the time you save us, knowledge is the greatest tool there is, and we all need to share it with anyone who will listen, God knows there are way to many ignorant people out there. Thanks again.

Rick, I check the wire between the IPR and the pcm relay and its under 5 ohms. I tried to check the injector pressure with my scanner and it came up to 128 psi while cranking. Tried again and nothing. I also noticed that my oil pressure gauge is not moving when cranking on it for a long time. It has in the past, because I would have to crank sometimes for 15 to 20 seconds before it started. After the fuel fixes and oil change, it was starting in 4 to 5 seconds like my other truck. Don't know if that helps, but running out of things to try. Thanks for your help, Mike

WTS light does come on. Will double check the harness the first part of the week, out of town this weekend. Just seems like it should be something simple, stopped into a friend of mine salvage yard to see if he had any parts, but all the cores he had were newer. Look into it again next week, thanks again for all the help, I know we can figure this thing out.
