99 7.3 Clutch Question
I just picked up a 99 Super Duty Crew Cab with the 7.3 6 speed manual
it feels like i have to pretty much push the clutch thru the floor to dis engage it.
is that normal for these?
i have a mustang with the manual trans mission and the clutch is disengaged well before i have the pedal to the floor.

not sure what is going on but its back to its old games of not disengaging when its warmed up, when its first started up i can go from forward to reverse with out an issue, but once its hot, i have hard time putting it in reverse, i can tell they syncro's are spinning and stopping it from going in.

Hey Guys I have an early 99 and had both the pedal throw and release problem.
It got kind of strange for a while as first the truck would just start moving with the pedal down because the hydraulic clutch was malfunctioning. so changed the clutch linkage but a few months later it came back. changed it twice more under parts warrantee until I went to a RV rally of all things and they had an auto shop owner there to talk about tow rig maintenance and he had a question and answer 1 on 1 after the presentation so I hung around to talk to him.
I told him my story and it took him about 2 seconds to say YOU NEED A LUK CLUTCH and all your problems will go away. well guess what got the LUK clutch and all my problems went away. as a matter of fact the first time I stepped on the pedal I thought I messed up because the pedal was so soft. but that is the way it is. Took it to the dealer and had the service manager feel it and the said it was softer that a mustang. I tow a heavy 5th wheeler and this thing is tuff too. I would recommend LUK clutches to anyone.see if you get some other feedback but that is my experience.
There is an mod for the clutch pedal bushing too you should search for.
Good luck, Jim
