pulling front clip and engine

yeah, im new to this forum and maybe you can help me with this. hopefully i can get on disassembling the nose of the truck by this week because i am pulling the engine (351W) due to a hole in the block and putting in another 351 but from i think 87 or 89 truck. im pulling the nose off so i can replace the radiator , radiotor core and the 2 radiator core supports ,put on headers and por15 the engine bay and replace the front fenders. is there anything i should be aware of that could help me or something? Also my truck is a 96 F350 xlt

Just don't use any wiring that comes with the replacement motor.

do you know if i will run into any engine differences the one going in is a late 80s 351 there both EFI. or are they exact same engine?

They're the exact same engine on the outside but there could be different accessory brackets and smog system on it so keep all that from your motor. Internally the motors are also nearly identical with the exception of the camshaft, the pre '94 motors got a smaller flat tappet cam so your replacement won't be as strong as the '96 was originally. And that reminds me of another difference, the replacement motor will have a distributor mounted ignition module while your truck will have it on the fender. For simplicity you can use your '96 distributor but you will have to change the drive gear on it first, you need a cast gear to match the flat tappet cam in the motor.
