2005 Ford Escape Gas Pedel
I am going to start by saying that I do not know a lot about vehicles. I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue. I bought my vehicle used with only 28000 miles at the end of 2006. When I got it everything worked just fine (as always) But when I drove it from Jacksonville Fl. to Maine, I started to have an issue when winter hit. At this point I had owned the vehicle for a year. My gas pedel would stick. I wouldn't be able to go anywhere, it was like someone stuck a block under my pedel and no matter how hard I pushed down on it it wouldn't go anywhere. So after this happened 3 times, I took it into the Ford Dealership and they told me they took it for a test drive and nothing happened, said I was probably just over re-acting. Well today exactly 1 year from when I took it to the dealership, I was driving my vehicle and my pedel stuck making me walk all of the way home and having a friend of mine to drive me back to my vehicle so we could tow it to a garage. But when we got to the vehicle the pedel moved just like normal. Anyone else have these issues??
Thank You for taking the time to read my post and I hope someone can give me some kind of insight.

I have the same problem with the sticking gas pedal from time to time. I also have an '05 that just turned 100K. It just randomly gets stuck and you can't press down. What I do is just tap on the pedal with my foot and it frees it up. I always just thought it was just an annoying thing but since I read your post, I'm thinking something needs to be lubricated.

When the pedal is stuck, have you tried opening the hood and checking to see of you could manipulate the throttle linkage at the throttle body? Often times a sticking pedal is really a sticking throttle body although your problem sounds worse since it sounds like you pedal won't move at all.

It might be carbon buildup on the throttle body. Basically carbon builds up and causes the butterfly valve to not want to seat properly.
The carbon also acts like a sponge, absorbing moisture, and when the temperature gets below freezing, it could freeze up.
Remove the air hose at the throttle body (at the engine) and use a very soft toothbrush and some throttle body cleaner to clean the bore and around the valve off.

I have had the same problem, but it does not have to be in the winter time, matter of fact it happened to day and it was in the 60's.
From what I have seen on Youtube it (sticking pedal ) seems to be pointing to the throttle body. Most of the time when my pedal sticks
I am slowing down with my foot on the brake, and making a turn. When I go back to the gas pedal.....it sticks
Sometimes I can put it in neutral and the pedal will work, sometimes I have to shut the car off and then start it back up........
Got to look into cleaning the throttle body this weekend
