straight front axle and rear axle to fit 1997 F-250
I am wanting to put a straight axle under my 1997 crew cab F-250 and get rid of my TTb. I am also looking for a rear axle as well. All F-350 if possible. I am also looking for SD springs that are "V" code as well. Thanks for any help!
You're looking for a Dana 60 for the front with a drivers side drop. They're a bit pricey in case you haven't noticed. The rear will be a Dana 60, 70 or a sterling 10.25"/10.50" They're pretty cheap.
What do you mean by the SD springs that are "V" coded? I may have em from a 92 F-250 (2WD) diesel that I'm parting out... How would I tell by looking at them?

i have a matching set from a 2003 f350 srw dana 60 front and 10.50" rear. 3.73 ratio. i also have some brand new 10.5" 4.30 posi rears rotor to rotor...
I am looking for a '78-'79 or a late eighties to '92 model dana 60 front axle. You will have to look in some of the older posts under 1994.5-1997 power stroke diesel forum to tell you how to know if they are "V" coded springs. I think it tells you in the door jamb or glove box.
Not interested in a newer body style axle as they will not fit right up to my truck.
i'm bored, just to clear some stuff up, 77.5-79 d60 fronts aren't a bolt in for an 80-97 truck.
85.5-97 d60 front's will bolt in just fine. you stated specific years so i'm assuming you want a kingpin axle, really no advantage over ball joints for a truck on 38's or smaller tires. and bj axles generally run a little cheaper.
99-04 s/d d60's will bolt in fine, but then you need new metric pattern wheels.
super duty v code springs are leaf springs, the guy with a 2wd 92 f250 would have coil springs because it's 2x.
your current rear end doesn't need replacing unless it's a 3.55 geared axle and you are swapping to 4.10's. it's a full float sterling 10.25 and.....
you'd need a sterling rear (88ish and newer 10.25 or 10.50)either way for the speed sensor abs crap tone ring junk.
p.s. jerg_064, unless those axles were special order gears from factory new it's either 3.55's or 4.10's. i've yet to see an 85-97 f350 4x4 with any other gears stock.
not trying to be mean, just clearing some stuff up and broadening your options

Thanks fatdan! I am just learning as I go while trying to find some of these parts. I have read a lot of posts about this but they seem to run together so that is why I have my dates all mixed up. I will not be running anything 38's or over on this truck. Thanks again!

Yea, your right. They're 4.10s
