Looking for straight axle for 1997 F-250

I am looking for a straight axle for the front of my 1997 f250, and a back axle so I can beef it up some. I have to get rid if the TTB front suspension soon and I might as well put a good axle under the back also. I am looking at doing the RSK under the front as well but have not made up my mind which springs to go with.

If anyone knows where there is an axle for my truck please shoot me a message. I will be looking in the junk yards but I will bet that someone who knows what they are doing is already yanking these axles. Thanks for the help!

Go with the king pin if u can find it, much stronger setup than balljoint style, it uses bearing/race instead of balljoint.. lot cheaper to rebuild if it ever goes bad. They were last used in the 91 model year. Why are u looking to replace your rear axle, its plenty strong..just curious.. good luck

I was thinking that everyone was changing them as well as the front. I just misunderstood what I have been reading. That is what happens when I think! LoL!

It all depends, they are hard to find since they haven't been in production for 20 years but u may get lucky like I did, I.found a old 91 reg cab that the frame rotted out on and picked it up for $500, kept rear end, trans front axle and motor and then scrapped truck for 250, balljoint Dana 60's aren't bad by any means but if u can find a pre 91 I would buy it...they usually sell around 6-1000k for the ones I've seen but it all depends on condition of axle...happy hunting

I just hate that helifixer is in AZ! Sounds like he has a good axle but the shipping would cost me a ton by itself. When the guys do the RSK on the front axle, I guess they have to also do it on the rear at the same time. That may be what I was getting confused with. I really like this forum and all the great people on here who do not mind lending their knowledge to not so great mechanics like myself. Thanks for what you members on this board do to help us rookies!!

That's what we are all here for, these members have helped me so much over the years, I believe some of the rsk are just to level the truck. I'm really not sure.

I was wondering why you were asking about the rear axle. The rear end under
chassis cab trucks uses almost all the same parts as the F-250 and SRW F-350 and is rated for 11,000 lbs. The only difference is out on the ends; the middle parts are all the same.

The only way I've ever heard of breaking one is to have it loaded down real heavy... like 6,000 lbs plus on it. Then burn out on gravel or mud and transition to dry pavement while the rear end is wound up. That will roll the pumpkin on the axle tubes.

If I'm not mistaken the chassis cab obs super duty used a Dana 80 just like the 99+ super duty duallys do. The 10.25 is a strong rear end, I've done a lot of stupid things and never broke anything other than a u joint.

BS I would search Craiglist in your area, Type Dana 60 and see what u find
