1968 F250 4x4 Crew Cab Short Box
I've been lurking on this forum in the 'Vehicles for Sale' section trying to find a '67-72 CC 4x4 with a manual transmission and short bed or short wheel base (SWB), but can only find ones with 2WD, auto, and most with a long bed. I've found a '68 F250 4x4 CC SWB in Oregon, but do not know the extent of rust damage. I will either need better photos from the owner or go fly out there to take a look.
My only other alternative is a '70 F250 CC 2WD SWB w/auto and to convert to diesel, 4x4, and manual. I have the welding skills and can bolt/unbolt stuff. I never did any major fabrication and never swapped a motor, but am willing to buy the tools and learn.
Give me some advice. I will need a truck to trailer my '66 Mustang FB GT; and to use as a work horse and parts hauler. I hate the look of newer vehicles, so that is why I stick in the late sixties.
Thanks.

That would most likely have a 360 engine in it which any 360 or 390 will swap right in if needed this era crew cabs are pretty rare I have a 71 4x4 crew I'm working on now with a newer front and rear axles super duty leaf springs 460 engine with a 5 speed trans behind it long build but its coming along from the looks of it that truck is going to have a lot of hidden rust like mine did once you start ripping into it more rust issues are discovered then what you originally saw good luck on the search any help let me know ill try to help with any questions

This is what I would do if I had an unlimited cash supply...... First I would find a truck that met my basic wish list. A short box, CC then I would tear it apart. Start with the frame and modify it from there. Better, newer axles, diesel with a six speed. Then cherry the cab and box.
Just wondering, do you really need a 4X4, or would a 2WD do just fine?

Got the truck from Oregon and after doing a little work... its in driving condition. I'm now working on the headlights, so I can do some midnight prowling. Link to the project - '68F250CC4x4.
