Broken connection between key cylinder and ignition switch

I rented a hook-type steering wheel puller from O'Reilly or Autozone and it didn't work. Wouldn't hold onto the sides of the steering wheel center. I had to drill some holes, tap them and use bolts in a gear puller I had to pull the steering wheel. Otherwise it went just as outlined in the instructions I was sent. Good luck.

Thanks Keith.
Glad to find your post. Zero search results in Aerostar forum for this problem. Thankfully this van is only a primary driver for teenagers. Time to organize matters and obtain repair information. I am impressed that replacement parts for this repair are cheap. The instructions from Steering Column Parts will be the most expensive purchase. Funny thing, I got lucky enough to have the original keys from this vehicle turn the replacement lock cylinder bought Saturday at Autozone.

I just broke my '86 and it appears the upper collar and bearing holder can be separated if the two threaded blind pins are removed. It looks like you remove the outer tumbler collar, snap ring, and thread a 10/32 or 24? into the pins and pull them out with a slide hammer and it makes it easily accessible.
The issue is are these two pins actually pins?
Also, I do not have tilt wheel but my ignition actuator appears the same as the link above (but the website says it will not fit my truck) Any thoughts besides resurrecting a four year old thread? lol. Thanks.

Well, thanks to Phydeaux and the file he sent me, I got the steering column apart and found the broken piece.

Now I just have to get the new piece or pieces (although everything else looks fine) and put it back together.
