What's the cheapest way to get rid of the DPF?

Guys,

What's the cheapest delete pipe and tuner to ditch the regen function? Not looking for power, just some fuel savings and better oil...

only way you can do it is with a tuner. that tells the pcm not to regen any more. without a tuner you are opening yourself to possibly burning up the truck or other damage. h&s xrt pro is reasonably priced and tunes are free. delete pipe is around 140 or so. I do have a used one for sale dpf delete that is.

To add, are the DPF delete pipes applicable to the stock exhaust. I dont feel like spending $500 on a single exhaust. I rather just delete the dpf and leave the truck looking completely stock.

You should be able to find a good deal on a tuner, DPF delete pipe, and CAT delete pipe and it will do what you want with stock exhaust.

1000-2000$ should do it.

The absolute cheapest way is to drop the DPF, punch out the insides, remount and install a DPF-R+ to disable the regen function. But, that method means you can't revert back to stock for inspections and/or dealer visits.

Also means destroying a $1,500 component that may be worth something on ebay. I'd suggest getting a delete pipe.

Does the DPF-R actually reprogram the PCM, or just attempt to fool it?

I've heard of several people running that, but never a solid answer.

With the exact same goal in mind I found an edge evolution (used) on Craigs List (300) and bought a DOC/DPF delete pipe on ebay for a little over 200 ( I think). Right now I'm on the road and don't have the pipe installed yet. The Edge is working great as a set of gauges. They evolution is a bit dated and has only a couple canned tunes with no tranny adjustments and I don't think it's suitable for anything but Delete/stock. But if that's what you want then you should be able to find an Edge EVO on Craigs or ebay.

Gearbox Z DPF-R

I did mine for under $700 for DPF-R PLUS, and FLO PRO cat/dpf delete 4" pipe kit.
I left the sensors in the original components, just unplugged them. The tuner program wants to see sensors, but I was told 330 ohm 1/2 w resistors inserted into sensor plugs would work. Bingo! Just stuck them in and sealed plugs with rtv silicone.
This way you can reverse the entire procedure in a few hours, if compelled by service, resale, or legal reasons.
I saw 20% mileage gains , no dilution, and runs like a scalded dog! No visible smoke unless you nail it, sounds like a 6.0 . I left the factory muffler and cooler tip on so I get the "jet engine whoosh ", but it s not loud enough to draw unwanted attention.
