Replying before the voting options appeared, but I'll just post a visual to indicate my choice.
Glad I gave you this idea!
EDIT: Now that the voting options appear, I voted for 80/81 chrome grill, and chrome bumper, no pads, and grill guards.
Had the added option of also having the 80/81 "Explorer" hood ornament been there, I'da picked that as well. But, alas, there's only so many options that be added to the polls......

I voted for the 1982 - 1986 chrome grille with chrome bumper with rub strips and the two bumper guards as my personal favorite.
But, I also really like the truck in option 8 with the 1980 - 1981 chrome grille, no rub strips, and the two bumper guards. That would be my second choice.
I think that the 1980 -1986 Bullnose trucks is the *only* model truck that I think looks good with the bumper guards. I have seen a few 1987 - 1991 and 1992 - 1996 models with those same bumper guards, and it just doesn't look right.
81-F-150-Explorer, what about a WHEEL poll next? You could include all the different wheel and hub cap choices the Bullnose trucks used through the years.

L85, I agree about the 87 and newer not looking good with the guards, but I disagree about the 65-79 trucks. They look good with the pad-less chrome bumper and grill guards.
I've added the grill guards to my current 80, and past 71 and 65, as I really like them. I never even though about trying to add any to the 94 I had. Never saw any that looked right for that style truck......
A wheel/hub cap poll would be ok, but I'm no fan of hubcaps, and there were only a couple of the factory "styled" wheels that ever really looked decent, in my opinion. The silver "Argent" spokes with chrome cap and trim ring, and the "Bulletholes" alloy. The latter look better with the fake "Rivets" than without, in my opinion......

I can go along with that. The 1965 - 1979 trucks all looked good with the guards. 1980 - 1986 was the last year they looked right. Its interesting that the 1980 - 1986 models was also the last year of the "classic" styling (non-aero) and the last years that came with a carburetor, and the last year the guards look good.

I really dig the shortened "L85."

Well now, a wheel poll without the hubcaps wouldn't be fair, would it? After all, a poll needs to show ALL of the factory available options, or else someone may complain about it and "refuse to answer", right Wulff?

I guess that makes us "Special", but I hope in a good way...
They were also the last trucks to come with headlights that don't fade over time, due to being plastic. Sealed beams, FTW!!!!
As for hubcaps, I agree they should be included. There were far more trucks with hubcaps vs styled wheels, back then. The 94 I bought was a bit of a rarity, being a hubcap truck, but I already had a set of chrome wheels to fit it, so I didn't mind not paying extra for wheels I didn't like. By 94, they only had the silver or chrome "directional" style or the alloy. I'da paid for the alloys, but don't like the others.
There is one style hubcap I like, I just don't run hubcaps on anything. Fancy wheels are the only way to go.....

Front plate mount was just a couple square holes. Could either use the plastic inserts with screws, or nuts/bolts.

Glad you like it - you are welcome.
I do believe the black bumper was XLS only - at least that's what the '82 brochure seems to say.
Interesting how the polls seem to be saying people like these trucks w/few doodads. Clean. Simple. Unencumbered. Seems like I remember a thread about that not long ago.
