Screwed up, broke the rear glass this past weekend
I messed up and broke the rear glass in the 01 excuresion this past weekend while camping. Had 2 12 foot kayaks in the back with the hatch up and was backing up at a little country store and didn't realize how close to a tree I was and hit the passenger corner of the hatch and grenaded the glass. It bent the upper passenger side hinge at the same time. Me and a friend that was camping with with us pulled it off and straightened the hinge but what a mess of glass peices.
I called a guy I know for a price for new glass and he said around $320, not installed. I hate spending money on my screw ups when it doesn't improve performance. that could have gone toward a nice chip or something.

When I bought mine, the glass had been replaced and they hadnt removed all the glass from the bottom of the hatch. Now everytime I open the hatch there are little pieces of glass on the tailgate. So you might want to make sure that you get all that out of there.
When I open and close it, it sounds like a giant rattle. LMAO!!!!!

been there, done that
Oh I feel your pain! I shattered the glass also, but I accidently closed the lift hatch before the right barn door. The right door just catches the bottom of the glass, and I mean the very bottom 1/8". Mine went off like a shotgun.
My insurance company has a glass replacement policy and all it cost me was the $250 deductible, and they did it at my house! Call your insurance company.
