Unhappy changed motor and it doesnt have power

hello
i changed the motor on my 94 f15o with 5.0/302. The motor i put in it is a 87 model that was converted over to 4 brl carb and was rebuilt 50,000 miles ago. i put my intake and other parts on it after i installed it. now the motor is missing, backfiring and doesn't have any power. i have checked over and over to make sure the plug wires are wired correctly, set timing to 10 deg. btdc and changed the plugs and wires. i heard the motor run before i pulled it and it ran good before. it sounds like one sounds when the plug wires are switched. please help

Check the firing order , you need to use the old 302 order , the 94 was a roller motor with the HO 351 firing order....Lew

What this means of course is that you have a low output 5.0 and not a HO... just so you know in case you bought it with the impression it was a HO.

yeah i thought since the motors looked the same that they were the same. i had planned on rebuilding the old motor and putting it back in anyway. will there be a big differance in HP?
