Exclamation Getting a new Ford F-450

I went in to order a 2011 Ford F-450 that I built on Ford.com with the options that I wanted. I was told that it would take 8 to 10 weeks to get the truck, plus the fact by that time they may not have any incentives available and that there was a good chance that instead of the 2011 truck I was ordering that they may stop making the 2011's and start making the 2012 models. Also the price could go up.
My question if I order now and wait the 10 weeks for them to make the truck, what are my chances of getting any rebates. Do you think by that time the change over would take place and that I will have to re order a 2012?
Thanks.

I doubt they are making '11s any more, IIRC either June or July is the vacation months where they retool the plants then come back in Aug. to make the new MY.

I would just wait to make sure you get the 2012 model. Not many changes on the new one's, but it will be a 2012. From what I have seen the rebates have been the same for the last 5 months. Plus if the price does go up, can't see it going up a lot. Also if you get a discount from Ford the price is set.

Thanks everyone, Well thats settled, I will wait for the 2012 models to come out. Hopefully there will be more colors to choose from for the King Ranch.

The dealer that I buy my trucks at will lock the incentives in and if the incentives are better at time of delivery they'll give those. Just remember that they probably wont have any incentives for the 2012 in the beginning of the the new year model but you never know.

How does the xplan come in to play if you order one? Are dealers less likely to want to work with you? And I'd guess if you have a trade then you will not do well since they are making a small amount on the new truck.

In my area most of the crew cabs are diesels that are in the 50k-60k range on the lots. Gasser XLT crews are hard to find. And long beds are non-existent.

At this point, I would definitely wait for the 2012 Super Duty. There should be improvements in the design of the engines, transmission, etc. considering the 2011 Super Duty had all new designs.

I used X plan and my dealer was more than willing to order one. I had a trade in as well and had to work with them on the pricing but we came to an agreement. They still make money on X plan purchases, not sure how much but they get kickbacks from Ford.

2000silverbullet,
Thanks for the feedback. I feel like I might end up ordering one someday to get exactly what I want. And a setup similiar to yours except it would be an XLT with some options.

Is there a better time of year to order to get the best incentives? I know that 2012's are almost being built or being built now. I'm wondering what the window is to order a 2012 before they stop production, while getting a decent rebate. Maybe spring 2012?

I haven't been paying much attention to the current rebates/incentives but from reading on the forums it seems they're pretty low right now. Just keep an eye on them every month or so and see what pops up. My dealer said I'd get the best of whatever rebates/incentives were offered between the time I ordered the truck and the time I picked it up. I think I ended up getting $3500 off, would've been $4,250 but my $750 off coupon showed up about 6 months too late. Thedieselstop.com has a 2011 and up ordering thread that has alot of good information (including a 2012 order guide). There's some good info down in the (FTE) 6.7 and 6.2 forums as well.

I will say get everything you can upfront because I see alot of threads with questions about adding on factory items after the fact (navigation, upfitter switches, 5th wheel prep, etc) which may cost you more (time/money) in the end.
