Need help with electric short on fuel pump wire
On My 02 f250 7.3 diesel.
The fuse pops every time i replace it and turn the key on..
I have a short somewhere. any one know how the electric wiring runs on the fuse line to the fuel pump ? is there a relay that's bad or some thing else that runs through that line. is there a regulator that runs off that line ??
I disconnected the wires from the fuel pump its self and still pops the fuse when i turn the key on. I ran a wire from the battery directly to the pump and the truck runs good.
If i have to run a bypass wire, will anything be affected by this ?
No relays of censors ??

What fuse exactly is blowing? When the fuse does pop, does the glow plug light stop coming on when the key is turned on? The most common fuse to be blown is from a shorted fuel bowl heater, which also happens to power part of the PCM. Unplug the heater (on the back side of the fuel filter bowl), replace fuse and try to start it up.
Just leave the fuel bowl heater unplugged if that fixes your problem.

Well.. after chasing all the wires down as best as i could and looking for something grounded out, I found nothing. unplugged every connector including the fuel warmer and it kept popping the fuse. The last thing i did was to un-plug the wiring harness on the right valve cover that comes from the main harness and plug it back in. It finally stopped popping fuse's. Took it on a test drive and after the injector's bled out, it seems to be running fine..
While looking around I did notice That the plug that go's in to the left valve cover has a few wires exposed just as they go in to the back side of the plug.
It May be time for a new Motor harness..
Hope this at some point helps someone else with the same problem..
