I have a 1986 ranger with a 2.0L manual tranny. I also have a wrecked 1987 mustang with a 2.3EFI Auto. I would ike to take the 2.3 out of the mustang and use it in my ranger, since my 2.0 is about to die because it has so many miles on it. I have heard that Ford used very simaler engines in a lot of their cars and I would like to know how feesible this swap would be.

I know that I would need to change the wiring harness and add the computer, but I would mostly like to know if the engine mounts are the same or if I would have to weld new ones to fit the 2.3

Also if the trannys are close to the same, or if I would have to use the 2.3 tranny instead of just being able to bolt the 2.4 to the manual tranny.

Any help is greatly apprecaited, and asjk me if you need to know any more info about either car.
