Fuel Door Broken
#16
In MA, the Environmental police have F150's and I was recently checked by one after pulling my boat out of the water. (They are doing a fantastic job to protect the fish and catch poachers) I saw his fuel filler door open and commented on it. He told me that its been like that for weeks and the parts are on order.

Repair don't replace.
Repair is easy. Don't spend money for replacement. I found a quick & easy fix on the Ford Raptor site. Once the door assembly is out, remove the spring & pin. File or cut the bottom of the the housing where the pin comes out. Maybe 1/8" or a little more. Drill a small hole in the pin so it clears where you just cut/filed. Reassemble the door/hinge to the housing, put in the pin. Make sure the hole clears the housing with a washer. Put in a paper clip (heavy duty one) & bend the ends so it won't fall out, reattach the spring, then put the whole thing back in the truck. The whole job took me about 30 minutes. Hardest thing was finding a washer.

Almost always it is the pin that backs out of its proper index allowing the spring to go over center and it won’t hold the door shut (or open for that Matter)
an alternative to drilling the pin for some kind of cotterpin is to find a serrated push nut and drive that on to the end of the pin once it is properly indexed. Simply drive the push nut on the pin with a small socket and you are done.
That is what I did to my 2010 years ago and it is still fixed to this day.
