My '94 F150 Thread
#16
Do you think I'm making it up?
I had an 89 F-150 with a 300 and it sometimes sat for long periods when I wasn't driving it. If it sat for more than a couple weeks, it would clatter on startup for 2 seconds or so because the filter was empty. If it sat for less, no clatter.

Taken from the first post to keep everything about this together.
A thread in the '73-'79 section where this part is talked about & some part numbers.
Over due on the oil change by 950 miles or so but the oil still had some good color & didnt feel bad. Did my normal oil change routine. Set the bottle of Lucas out in the sun, drain the oil pan & take the filter off.
With damn near all of tools at work now I only bring home what I need, when I need them. So I made a couple calls & went by the dealership to ask what size socket or allen key is needed to take out the stock filter adapter. Dealership said 1" socket or 1/2" allen. Neither of those sounded right (another reason I dont care for dealerships) so I loaded up everything I had for 3/4" & bigger.
Enough rambling, onto the pictures:
Stock right before I pull the filter
Underneath & filter off
Hmm, dealership is wrong yet again.
Figuring that the dealership was wrong, I brought my trusty pipe wrench. Plenty of threads to get ahold of & room around to spin it.
Stock adapter
Comparing the 2 to make sure the threads were the same.
Got the thread adapter screwed in. Had to use pliers to get it this far in. Finger tight was 2 turns at best. Probably boogered up the last thread or so but its ok.
Gasket (between block & 90* housing), original packing & part number.
Before I put the gasket on the housing I put a little fresh oil on the internal oring & A/C seal under the bolt head.
Seal on housing.
On the block & tight.
Underside shot
Next couple pictures show the oil in the filter & how much is used out of the quart. No real need for the pictures but I wanted to know. Got all the air bubbles burped out.
Finished up
There is a slight clearance issue with my filter wrench but its solved by sliding it up a little higher on the filter.
I have an oil change coming up & just got through cleaning up & re-sealing an oil filter adapter I got off a 60s model Econoline. The seals that go between the block & adapter arent made anymore & Felpro only sells them in "bottom end sets". Bought 4 the other day from a dealership on the other side of the state. More info on the adapter is here.

First off...Nice truck.....
Second, are those rims all the spares from other trucks? If so then....I'm sure there's 4 angry truck owners with flats now.... And no way to changem....ROFL...
I'm actually thinking about geting a set like that, and adding my dog dishes and beauty rings off my 91 crown vic onto them....
I've read/heard someone say that the little bumps that hold them on are different from the car, to the truck wheels...but its nothing a MIG welder/grinder can't fix....
IMO, they simply are the best wheel set...has flash, and is tough...With no ghey oxidation....

Thanks.
If they are all spares, it wasnt me. I have a 5th one for a spare but its not black. Im not even going to bother thinking about taking tires/rims unless theres a set of 5 matching there.
Originally I got it with these hubcaps over the rims.
I like it but was over at a friends house & his dog pissed on 3 of the rims. After owning aluminum rims & having to clean **** off them, I get in a habit of cleaning rims period if they are pissed on. And since I had 3 off I took the 4th off & did a walk around & decided the black & white look with a little chrome looked better.
These are the rims I really want on it. Black instead of red.

Old turbine wheels are RARE......Grabb'em...You can always have them painted again....They were originally black between the spokes instead of red anyways....
Mine aren't like that...
Here is my car....And the wheels in question...The reason I simply don't use the car rims too are that the bolt pattern is smaller (Mustang/Ranger fit)
See what I mean? Totally different look....

Changed out the t-stat today to a 192* from the 180* that was in it. The temp gauge was only getting to the line for the normal range. I also think the shifts have smoothed out. Wont know until I drive to work.
Also filled up Friday with some non-ethanol fuel. The station isnt that far out of my way & I do want to see what kind of change in mileage I get.
