roadworthy flathead V8

I have a 1936 ford with a stock 1938 ford flathead V-8 and stock trans, I am looking for ideas to make it more road worthy. Here are a few, anyone ever tried any of these.
1. Change the trans out to a ford late model 5 or 6 speed, speedway and others make a engine adapter. But the I think about how hard is it to shorten and convert the end of the stock enclosed driveshaft to fit the late model trans. Maybe someone knows of a company the does it.
2. Has anyone ever installed a engine oil cooler or water cooler. Setup with a electric fans to come on at higher temps
I am not looking at it as a race care, but maybe driving it at a safe low rpm 60-65 mph,
I replaced the stock fan with a electric 16" 3.000 cfm fan abd shrould.
