Long crank and won't start when hot

I looked in the tech folder and got some ideas. So I'm wondering if it's the ICP/IPR sensors or a leak in the oil system.

Truck starts fine cold.

After running and getting to temp it won't restart. Just cranks but won't fire up.

Checked starter, batteries, FICM, just changed oil last weekend (15w40 and ford filter)

When i let it sit for about 30-45 min it will start up again. When hot idling the IPR is 22.27 %
ICP is 0.9 V - but it bounces a little from 0.85v-1.0v but generally sits on 0.9v

When I crank the motor the low pressure oil gauge on the dash doesn't move. I never really paid attention to it before this so not sure if it should. Also, AE showed ICP at 0.2 and 0.6V when cranking hot and 0.9-1.1 cranking cold.

The desired ICP and actual ICP seem to play tag. THe desired in the lead and the actual following shortly behind it. At idle or coasting they are pretty much the same.

Does this help narrow it down to a leak in the oil system (dummy plugs or something) or if it's just the IPR or bad ICP sensor?

I appreciate some techs advice. I need a shoulder to cry on.

Also when running CMP and CKP are in sync pretty much all the time. Just sometimes when I let off and coast or when idling it shows out of sync. But it's usually only a second or so.

HPOP Air test is definitive.

Check out my vapor lock theory.

So if I just unplug the ICP and it starts when hot that just narrows it down the the ICP?

I really don't want to be getting into the motor again lol.

Also I see the motor needs 500 psi to start, what does that convert to in ICP volts?

Also on codes are for a couple of the glow plugs. But those codes have been there for a week or so and the truck has start fine cold/warm until today. I figured I'd replace the glow plugs in my own due time since the truck was still starting fine before today.

I don't know what 500 psi is in volts, but if have AE why not jut look at actual icp pressure? Sounds like you have a leak in the hpo system to me. Time to due a air leak off test.

IIRC you need to see minimum .8v ICP voltage cranking .

Is this on your new motor????

Yep
Just one thing after another for me.

I was really hoping it was just the icp or ipr sensor. I am not looking forward to opening up valve covers etc again. GeeZ!

I've been using the CTS insight too. It reads
In volts

Any special tools need to replace ipr? Or should I just change icp sensor?

It doesn't sound like you have an icp issue or an ipr issue to me. I wouldn't just start changing out parts hoping it will work. That can get very expensive. You need to do the air leak off test.

Im with texans that IPR numbers you posted looked fine to me

heres what ya had
When hot idling the IPR is 22.27 %

now the way I understand it if it did have a leak in the system IPR% would be way higher all the time to make up pressure for the leak like IPR35% or MORE at hot idel
heres the value
from left to right koeo, low rpm, high rpm, operating range before dtc

IPR # 14.84 24 40.60 0 - 50 PERCENT Injection Pressure Regulator
at low idel your only off 1.73% thats nothing I would expect it to be higher if ya had a leak

have you tried to unplug the ICP sensor when you have a no start condition and see if it will start

since you just had work done to the moter check all wire harness connections

I picked up a new ICp sensor and a pigtail harness just in case. I just find it hard to believe the the ICP sensor is shot again because it was new when the new motor went in.

Do you have to take the turbo off for the IPR valve?
