That is an option, and I would use it in the wintertime if the truck was used hard then. My plan was just to use water, and put the windshield washer fluid in the winter to prevent any freezing when it gets its yearly rest. I just don't know what I'd use for a tank yet or where I'd mount it yet.

Darin, I run just tap water. I go thru a lot if I'm against a head wind or climbing hills. I've gone thru seven gallons in 300 miles. I finally turned it up some where the injection starts at 10lbs of boost and max's at 20lbs. I did have it set to come on at 7lbs but found I don't need it until 10lbs and above. I'm using a little less water that way.

Mike, I could for sure use windshield washer fluid for a little extra power but I don't feel like stopping every 300 miles or so and buying some. I feel that I have plenty of power, just need to control EGT's. With just water I see a good drop in EGT's.

Darin, I thought about using a five gallon gas can and tapping the bottom for the water line. I bought the coolingmist seven gallon tank but its a rip off at $100. It fit perfect behind my tool box and between my aux fuel tank and the side of the bed.

How is this water injection setup made. It sounds scary to me putting tap water in my engine. What all does it benefit besides lowering egts, if anything? What's the cost of a DIY setup and how hard? Sorry so many questions?

I was just looking at fresh water tanks for campers online, 30 bucks or so for anything from 10-20 gallons. I may just go that way. I was kind of thinking of mounting it underneath on the drivers side frame rail if I can get something with access to be able to fill it under there.

Evans, running just water won't really help power, but keep egts down where you can use it more as you can see how Glenn has it in his previous post. That's what I'm looking for. I think you can spend anywhere from 200-800+, depending on if you buy a kit, or diy.

Go to coolingmist.com and your see the general setup. I myself wouldn't make one. The pump is a high pressure pump controled by either boost or map sensor. The nozzle is designed to spray it in at a fine mist which is instancely vaporized by the heat of the intake. Its a safe setup because the controller shuts it off when the boost (which I use) is low. You would not want it on when you shut the engine off because you might hydro lock the motor when you start it up again. Just water benefits nothing besides keeping EGT's lower. If you use meth with it your hp will increase.

That's a good idea Darin using a RV tank. They come in all sizes. My seven gallon tank is to small, LOL. My wife gets a kick out of me filling up jugs out of the camper in rest area's to fill my water tank up. I filter my water before it gets into my RV so its good to use in the system. The nozzle has a fine screen filter thats gets clogged real easy.

No, its just an household filter with two canisters similar to the ones in the picture. One canister has a per filter in it and the next one a fine filter. They are plumbed into the water hose outside. You never know what your going to get at a camp ground, we buy bottled water also to drink. Is your RO in your camper?

The system I have is installed in the compartment on the left side of the 5er, its a little overkill but works quite well. We really needed it most a couple of years ago when we stay at an RV Resort on the Colorado River near parker. The water there was very bad and very high in iron and other stuff (not fit to drink) and didn't work well for alot of other things, like showering, washing etc. it was just bad.
I was thinking you could draw water from the 5er tank for your coolingmist injection system. It would take a few feet of that plastic tubing though, then you wouldn't have to stop to refill.

That's two good idea's Rich. I never thought about installing a RO in the camper. Like you say, some campground water sucks. My filters help and we only drink bottled water.

Tapping into the fresh water tank off the camper would work but it would be a long line. My fresh water tank is at the rear of the camper. We stop every once in awhile for the dog, wife, my bladder, fuel......LOL
