Throttle Response

Throttle Response
The one and only beef I have so far with my 6.2 is the throttle response. Just like my old V10 was with the electronic throttle programing. It feels mushy and not very responsive especially at low rpm. With my V10 I put a programmer on it which picked it right up. The programmer I used made the shifts way too firm for my taste though and it hammered into every gear. I had a great chat with Mike from 5 Star today and he knows what I am after and I feel he has the tunes I am looking for. I opted for the 87 performance/towing tune along with the 91 performance tune. For the third one I picked the standard 87 tune which more or less just improves the throttle response. I will be using the standard and towing tunes mainly as I am not looking for speed, just a change in how it feels.

Subscribing.
I miss my 2000 V10's throttle response at times but generally the '11's isn't too bad. I just hate when I floor it and the truck waits a bit to think it out. My '00 just went.
I need to talk to my dealer about programmers and get their thoughts on it... I'd really like to get one.

I have read that stock mapping will allow the throttle bodies to open to 30% only, regardless of pedal position until you are close to 4k rpm, and even then it won't open to 100%. The tuner I have solved this and it is much more responsive from a stand still now (thanks 5 star).

That's so they can easily change the mapping next year and come up with higher numbers to beat the competition Just kidding, but it does hold some truth...
The one thing about Mike is, he's usually very receptive to modifying the tune to suit your needs. If you get a tune from him, and you want something changed, email him, he'll email back the modified tune, and you can test it out.
Usually, I say... because he might be on vacation at the time you ask

I have been looking and thinking about getting one too. But have been waiting to see if anyone has tried it yet.
Wondering will this fix the shifting problems too? Or is the trans flash required from the dealer?
I think I would go with the same one's you choose Super08. Those seemed to be what I was looking for, not really wanting to get the 91, but you do get 3 tunes.

I did my first oil change today. I always like to do early ones on a new engine to flush out the garbage. What a breeze to do after working on the 6.0 and the 6.4 for the last four and a half years. Topped off the tranny while I was at it, it took roughly 1/2 quart and now the oil level about 3/16" from the top of the hash marks when hot. There are no leaks to be seen so I am guessing it was not topped off at the factory. As for the oil changes, I can't believe they recommend something like 8000 miles between oil changes. The most I will let it go will be 5000. Even my diesels were getting changed every 5000 miles. I did this one at 1600 miles and I will do the next one when it hits 5000 and then every 5000 after that.
While I was underneath I was impressed with the mandrel bends in the exhaust pipes and all the insulation that is now under the cab and on the firewall. No wonder why it is so quiet.
