ac help! Where is my low side port?

i know there is an ac/heat forum, but for the van guys, where is the port on my 92 E350 7.5l???? i've looked everywhere! High side is right by battery but low side is hiding.
Also, i have rear air. Are the systems totally separate? Does the rear have charge ports and a separate freon supply because i can't find it either. I've pulled the trim back there and gotten to the rear air system/wiring/fan etc. but i don't see any ports back there or under the van anywhere either.

Thanks! The Haynes manual is useless and doesn't show any of this either.

I can't tell you where the low side connection is, but I can tell you the rear and the front A/C is common to each other if it is a factory OEM installation. There maybe hose connections under the rocker panel on the drivers side just behind the drivers door. If you follow the hoses from the front of the vehicle, there are two refrigerant lines that sometimes cross over from the passenger side to the drivers side under the cowl under the hood. you gotta get low and look up under the cowl. I've seen refrigerant connections there. Good Luck

The one on my 87 E350 Diesel is directly over the air cleaner of the engine, you have to remove the dog house (engine cover inside) to access it.

thanks yall, i'll continue looking tomorrow. I have removed the air intake assembly and looked closely under the cowl where the lines run accross and can't see it there. I have looked under the van all along the driver's side along frame, etc. Nothing. It's got to be somewhere!

Sometime they put them behind the battery on the passenger side. Between the battery and the inner right fender you might find the accumulator/dryer, It might be on one of the hose from that. That would be real hard to find if the connection is on or near the Dryer.

found it! It was driving me crazy, so i had to keep looking this morning. I chased every line, then chased them again. That little bugger is RIGHT underneath the oil filler tube, so when i was running my hands under the cowl to feel it, i would skip right over it. It has a black cap on it, not blue, and there was NO seeing it. Anyway, it's there, but i still think it's strange that Ford doesn't put that stuff in the same place on every v8 engine. I looked at a newer e250 at work last night and everything is totally different. The battery is not even on the same side as mine.

Thank you for this thread, and thanks again for you coming back and letting us know where you found it. I've been looking for that on my 1989 E150 for some time now. I'll look again today where you said you found yours.

Thanks again,

On 2000 E150 xlt with rear AC both high and low sides are on passenger side under the hood behind and above the battery. So access to those ports in is quite good in this model year. In fact i had being charging AC several times using short hose and placing small refrigirant can right under the hood and drive the van around.

Not so lucky here on my 1989 E150 XLT with 5.0 engine and both A/c's. I've looked under the hood, only the HighSide port is in sight. I've tried to trace hoses but no joy, still can't locate LowSide port. Am I gonna have to pull the Engine Cover inside the Van, or crawl underneath, or what? Ford did a really go job of hiding this one.......
