Wind Fire Rain
We seem to be in some very turbulent times in our weather…we have many members of FTE who have lost homes, businesses and their livelihood to water, many who are in extreme drought conditions and now we have fire ravaging the southwest.
Yesterday Los Alamos New Mexico (where I grew up and my family is) was evacuated .....18k people gone because of a fire that has grown 50 thousands acres in just 20 hours
…. It was just 11 years ago we lost 400 homes in Los Alamos to the Cerro Grande Fire.....
........ that fire was only 48 thousand acres…it took over three months to consume that land ….this Las Conchas Fire is extremely fast
.....Take a moment today and pray not just for fire victims but for all victims, during a very turbulent time in America with Mother Nature
Each day find something good in it.

my thoughts and prayers for everyone dealing with crazy weather! we have family in North Dakota which have had to leave Minot due to flooding.
on the flip side, we have been having fantastic weather here in Alaska!! (sorry) and less wild fires then normal it seems, they just got the one big one under control.

That's a little harsh - tell that to the people that have lost their homes. "Getting on with life" has a completely different meaning to them.
My uncle and cousin live in Joplin, MO and were very fortunate to survive the tornado, but not more than a block away is pure destruction. It was one thing to see it on the news, but it was another to see the photos they took themselves and hear their personal perspective. I'm sure it's an entirely different experience to actually be there in person, and to live through it. I can't even imagine.

We're facing a record drought here. They're comparing it to the drought of the 1950's, which is the worst on record. The snow may be new, but the drought here was worse around 60 years ago. (for now) And wasn't the "great flood" of the Mississippi back in 1927 or something? Doesn't exactly sound like anything new or unheard of going on to me.
