Pulled the trigger on an Ecoboost, Questions...

First post, been reading and researching on this these forums for some time and finally pulled the trigger on an F150 EB SCREW 4x4 6.5 bed, off-road pack, chrome and plus pack. Got 17mpg on way home from dealer (45 miles).
Nice truck but have questions??

1. There is a nasty oil or rubber burning smell when i got home from dealer, I thought maybe it was just some oil burn off, but it was almost a rubber burning smell. The truck only hag 16 miles on it when I got it?? Any comments???
2. The lower grill covering what I would assume is the turbo cooler fell off on my way home. This is more of a comment than a question, kind of a bummer but the dealer should have an easy fix...
3. The casting on the motor seam like it is cracked paint... see picture is this normal?
4 There was a spare part left in my truck, was this supposed to be installed when they prepped my truck, see picture?

Thanks guys...

Just talked to the dealer; he said there is no grill/guard in front of the cooler and that I was the first to drive it , it had no test drives so the smell could be a first burn off. Did any of you with the EB have a burnt rubber like smell when it was new?

The package is an extra fuse for towing and he was going to look at another EB to see if it has the same cracking surface. Have any of seen the same kind of surface on your block??

Its just the new burning off of the engine. Doesnt matter about the type of engine. My 5.0 smelled like that for a week till i finally had a longer than 15 minute drive in it.

That is cast aluminum, looks normal to me.

No grille guard, engine casting is normal and the parts are for a electric brake controller, a fuse and a relay. Mine also smelled hot for about a week, normal burn off.

Nice truck and welcome to the forum.
None of the mentioned concerns are issues. All sounds normal.

The funny part about this is the lack of knowledge from the sales person. 99% of them have no clue what they are selling. When I bought my 2010 the OWNER of the dealership was my sales manager (Leif Johnson Austin Texas). He basically picked out my truck for me once I told him what I was looking for. When I asked what other motors besides the 4.6 were available he said "that's the only motor they made this year." So he's either a moron or a liar!
That's just one example.

Sorry for hi-jacking your post. Nice truck enjoy it!

My 2010 stank like hot metal for weeks after I bought it (had 4 miles on it). That "cracking" look is definitely the look of raw casted aluminum, perfectly normal. I still have my heavy duty relay and wiring harness in the bag in my glovebox lol. As for the grille cover, I can drive literally 10 min from my house to the KC Ford plant and take a picture of hundreds of fresh-off-the-line (MANY of them ecoboosts) F-150's none of which have grille guards on the lower grille. Your truck is golden, quit worrying and enjoy it for MANY years to come!
