1996 F-150 help

Hi Folk's I hope someone can help me. I have a 96 F-150 5.8 4WD. Over the weekend i was driving had no problems then my Speedometer started jumping up and down and the ABS light came on and starting changing gears hard. I never thought I would make it home. i am no mechanic but i am pretty sure it is Electrical. i hope someone may have experienced it or have some input. i have a small code reader and hooked it up but did not see any issues, maybe mine is not precious enough to determine issue. Any thought would be appreciated since I can not get it into the shop for another 2 week's.
Thanks a bunch
Sam

Could be a problem with the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Should show up on your code reader.
The VSS is on top of the rear differential housing. You could try removing it and cleaning it. Also visually check the wires going to it for damage and check that the electrical pulg connection is clean and tight.

F-150 Electrical issue

After poting I had read some other post with similar issues. It sounds like you are dead on. I had called Auto Zone and they have it in stock and he advised the same thing. Going to try later this evening when part comes in i hope that is the fix. It all happened at the same time. thank you so much for the input.

You might have better luck cleaning the old one if it is not in more than one piece.
You may not have much luck with the one from *****.
