"Squeaks, rattles and pops" - how do these/your truck rate?

Soon to purchase a new vehicle, still researching, etc, but its likely that a 2011 F150 will be it. I just love these trucks. What I do hate are squeaks, rattles and those "pops" like when a cars interior is really hot or really cold. I guess all/most cars have those pops as the interior heats up/cools down, but not rattles and squeaks are normal for a new vehicle and they drive me nuts (as I have had some cars in the past with these issues, but now I am void of it). I know these are trucks, but I still want a quiet interior.

My current car is a 1995 Lincoln Town Car and is 16 years old, has 189K miles and it amazingly squeak and rattle free.

I am just kinda wondering where these F150's rate now that you guys/gals are driving them and putting on more miles. Are the interiors holding up well and staying solid? Any unusual creaks, etc on rough terrain?

I have been in alot of late model rental cars over the years and found that interior quality on Japanese makes seem to have went down on many, but the American cars/trucks have drastically improved. I just turned in my vacation rental, a 2011 Dodge Charger that had 2500 miles when I picked it up. No squeaks or rattles, but some minor "pops" of some dash materials on really rough potholes on some freeways, but most of the interior is nicely padded and is a major improvement over Mopars of past years. Panels all fit nicely as well. I have also noticed how the Fords quality has also drastically improved. I have not been in a new Ram 1500 or Silverado to compare quality, but the F150 looks to be the best.

Another question - are the tops of the dash boards plastic or padded on the '11 F150's? I have never been inside of one to closely check it out. The Lariat model seems to have stitching over the driver side panel, so guess this part on the Lariat is at least padded?

Thanks in advance!

I have had all three late model brand trucks and all have had some sort of rattle or squeak! My latest 2011 FX4 also has a rattle in the passenger door or rear suicide door. I also have a clank in the drivetrain which is supposedly normal driveline lash!

When I get real tired of that rattle I plan on taking the door panel off and finding the culprait.
Other then that it is an awesome truck.

Thanks, hopefully you or the dealer can remedy that door rattle. It would drive me nuts, lol.

That clank you mention, I think I know it. I had a high mileage 1991 Chevy Caprice that would do that. I replaced both u-joints and it still did it. It killed me, lol. I have a 1973 Pontiac and it does not do it and its almost 40 years old, go figure, lol. My 1995 Lincoln dont do it either, guess it plagues certain vehicles.

Thanks again.

My 2011 F150 Lariat crew developed a creaky inner driver's door panel from my leaning my left knee on it inside of 1200 miles. I'll get out the sticky-backed felt and go to town to sort it out. For reference, my 2005 never did this.

My '04 Expy is rattle and squeak free, I expect my new future truck to be as well.

Only 800 miles but everything is tight. The only material other than plastic on my dash is the cowl that shrouds my gauges, it's wrapped with black leather.

Do a walk-on at a Ford lot Tennesseestorm, drive a few half tons, and poke and prod. The only way to find out if the rig is for is to get up close and find out! Good luck!

Hey I've only got about 600 miles on my 2011 FX4 Supercab 5.0L but I can say honestly its the quietest truck I've ever driven. No squeaks or rattles anywere yet. I know 600 miles is nothing. But yeah so far its like vault going down the highway at 70mph.

My 2010 has nearly 16k on it and it is remarkably squeak and rattle free. Built like a vault. Plus I hear FORD put a steel brace bar across the dash to make it a one piece flex free piece.

i'm almost to 25000 miles with nothing on the inside making any noise besides the change in the cup holder. The rear leafsprings squeak every now and then, but that's about it.

2010 4X4 with 23K miles. No rattles, squeeks, or vibrations. Only thing I've ever felt, and only two or three times, is when I brake while turning and hitting a bump (like a rolled curb entrance to a business) I get a brake shudder from a front wheel. I think that the computer interprets this as a skid and the ABS kicks in. It only happens when moving at 10 mph or so.
