Was going to replace the light in my truck. When unscrewing the light each wire had a black plastic at the end which fell apart. Are there replacements for these available? If not, what about a work around?

 

Look into the 96+ dome lights. Common swap for these trucks. They are 100x better than the stockers. I love mine. Especially with LEDz

ill have to pick one of those up next time im in the junk yard, my dome light doesnt work for some reason.

 

Ill get you a pic of it installed into my truck (will be when i have enough daylight to go out to the truck), on the light depending on what/where/how you get it may have a piece that sticks up that will have to be sanded flat, especially if you get it from a ford windstar, there are other cars like crown vicks, F-150/250s (96+) that may have them, forde probe, and a few others that i cant remember off the top of my head will/should have the dome light, mine is a brown like color so it does look factory (yay) as far as anyone is concerned unless i tell them

cool, I actually got my light to sit flush and proper 86F150302 noticed your light had a tiny gap between it and the foam padding.

 

The headliner has settled and sits flush with it now.

 

i got mine to work too. the button things in the corner of the doors werent installed right from the previous owner after they painted the truck. So i fixed those and then got the connections to seat right so now it actually works. too bad my CB Speaker is mounted right there too so it kinda blocks the light and it not that bright to begin with.

 

Thanks to all for the advice. I went to the local salvage yard and got several of the connectors to be on the safe side.
They installed easily and the light works great!

 

I am looking to do this to my truck. So the light comes from a 1996 or newer truck? Are these lights in any other vehicles or mainly just in trucks and vans?
