Very well designed indeed. Nice job. I'll be making a set myself. What size steel did you use?

3/8" x 2" HRS. The piece with the tack welded nuts slips inside the bed strut channel, and is very important. That piece is 1-3/4" x 4" HRS. This keeps the thin sheet metal bed strut from bending under load.

Bpounds was kind enough to send me the file so I could adapt it to my lift gate. Thanks, Bill.

That looks GREAT.

Being a little on the heavy side, the only thing I'd add, is another piece of steel that goes from about midway down to the step back to the frame.

That looks good, I.B. I could use a pair back at the bumper too. I'm glad the footpad drawing worked out for ya.

That's Sweet!

Bill, I'm no small fella, would your set up hold a 6'3" 300+ lbs guy like me? And in all seriousness, would you/do you make these kits for sale? Hell I'm looking for some tight now and the cheapest I've found is $185.00, I'd just rather see you get the dough.

Big Mike, I'm about 220 on Monday mornings, and it holds me fine. It is a little springy if I bounce on it because of the angle, but no where near the yield point. Unless you jumped up and down on it, I think it would be fine.

Sorry, I cannot build them for sale.

Looks like a great idea. I'm only 5'5" so I can definitely relate. I guess I'm still young enough that using the tire as a step is no big deal. Of course, I drive a straight truck for work and I have to climb in and out of the back of that thing quite a few times a day too.

Two year old thread (thanks Pat). I'm pleased to say the Man-Step is working out nicely. Especially when pulling the fifthwheel.
