fleetgaurd coolant
I finally located some restore at the KW shop and they sent me to the IH dealer for advise on coolant as they could not tell me.
Anyhow the Tech advised that they use the fleetgaurd in IH, they advised to use it in lieu of the shell stuff and with comments here about the ford stuff I bought 4 gals. Now need to know if there are any drawbacks to using it. It is the ELC compleat and meets ASTM D 6210, D 4985, 3303, SAE J1941.
It is approved for use by Cat, Detroit, IH Volvo and Mack.
any problems?

They had the 50-50 and thats what he recommended to use. I asked about it but that was all they had other than the rotella stuff and another prop glycol 50-50 (red bottle) from same company. He told me the red bottle was about the same as the rotella stuff and not to use it. Price was the same so that was not a factor.
It says it is a low silica formulation, only non silica I found was labled for GM products and the tech said to use what I got.
I am getting ready to go put the restore in and run, need to know if there is anythiing else that should be used?

You do not want the 50-50, you want the concentrate.
The system holds about 7 gallons. After flushing and completely draining there is still going to be 2-3 gallons of water in there. Add 3.5 gallons of concentrate, then add water to top off and you have 50-50 in your system.
If you add 50-50 to the system, when the water is already in there, you're going to get a concentration of about 25-75, which is not sufficient for freeze protections, or cavitation/corrosion protection.
