rear calipers sticking

I have replaced the rear calipers couple times now in the last couple years. I just recently put new pads and emergency brake components I replaced the whole em brake unit with new shield. repacked the bearings. Stupid things on occasion will stick. Ill stop and see it smoking pull over hit it with something then it will be fine for a while. Ive taken them apart after each time piston retracts and pins are free and re greased. Any idea if it could be something else. Thanks Billy

Are they OEM calipers?
Have they done this on previous calipers?
Is this Salt/Rust related?
Did they come with new pistons and seals?

I had two caliper pistons stuck before I rebuilt mine, but that was due to them being original and super crusty.

I would do a full fluid flush. Sounds like you have some moisture or other contaminants in there. I do this every couple of years on the older vehicles, which all of mine are.

They are not OEM calipers. I wish I had rebuilt them. The first pair I replaced were junk and were replaced about a year later. These are about 2-3 year old. I will try a good flush tonight.

I would try a set of Motorcraft, Wagner, or AC Delco calipers

Having rebuilt all 4 calipers during my build, unless yours are really clean (rust free), it's jut not worth the time and effort IMHO. The seats where the seals go rusts out and pits and you just can't get them very clean and functional again. I even used a sand blaster on mine and didn't get very good results. The rears locked up in just under a year. Just my two cents, but I'd go after the lifetime warranty ones from Autozone as you can get them about any place in the US and if they smoke the components, you can get new rotors and pads too. It's a pain in the you know what, but it is what it is.
