Question SMOG TUBE HEADS ? PLUG THEM ?

My 67 tbird 390 has the smog tubes on the exhaust port , i plan on plugging them but my question is do i remove the tube that's in the exhaust port ? it's like 1/4 diameter and sits dead center in port .
since i am blocking it with the threaded plug i can just hack it off right ?

The tubes can be removed. They drop in from the top and get seated from the tube nut and ferrules when installed. You should be able to get them out without much trouble.

I think Ford still sells them. Numbers Dummy Bill might know or have a source. If not DSC or Mansfield Mustang sell them.

Those heads have been milled pretty good looks like. Almost no thumbprint left and someone opened up the oil passage slot to get some oil back up to the heads. I'd do a mockup to be sure they fit and lineup ok with your intake before you do anything further. Hopefully they'll be just fine
