Mustang II front end help!

My grandfather is rebuilding a 62 unibody and is putting a mustang II front end and a 460 big block with a c-6. So my question for him is doe he need to rebuild the original rack and pinion or buy a new one? Shouldnt they be wider? How far forward does he need to mount the big block? has anyone put a 460 in one of these?

Use the search option above and see what you can find! I'm going to be putting a big block in my 61 uni but I'm not quit there yet.

The MII front suspension is not a preferred choice for these trucks. The pro builders who frequent this forum will tell you it's not up to the task of the weight these trucks push normally, and with a big block you're making it even worse. There are much better alternatives available (Aerostar, Dakota, Crown Vic).

Mustang II front end is IDENTICAL to the Pinto...there were some mods done for the SB Mustangs but I wouldnt put a BB in there...that would be like putting a diesel engine in a toyota...Its simply not designed to take the weight of these trucks in stock form...let alone putting a heavier powertrain in...
